Many myths surround probate. Some have some basis in fact, others are just that – myths. To be certain it is not the most pleasant experience you will be faced with. Unfortunately it’s too late to worry about that. We’ll do our best to make sure you understand the process before you start, and what your options are. There are actually several different types of probate administration, depending upon the size of the estate to be administered, and the nature of the family in general, and provisions of the will if there is one. To the extent there are options we will advise you of the pros and cons involved so that you may choose wisely.
Do you have to use a lawyer? In all likelihood – yes. In most cases it is mandated. Even when it is not, handling these matters without professional assistance is difficult, and can be financially dangerous.
